China has pledged to further strengthen relations between its government and that of Antigua, according to Chinese Ambassador to Antigua Liu Hanming.

The two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.

“We have continuously strengthened our cooperation in the fields of politics, economics, trade, education and culture, by which we have made profound friendship,” Liu said. “The friendship has endured a long-term test, which proves its solidity based on the mutual understandings. It is worth our treasuring.”

Liu was speaking at the handing-over ceremony of the new Barbuda Community Centre built by the Chinese government.

Last year, the two countries’ collaboration was highlighted by a Chinese-built, 30-megawatt power plant in Crabbes. https://www.caribjournal.com2011/09/06/china-to-hand-over-antigua-power-plant/
