Turks and Caicos Names New Ministries

The Turks and Caicos government has named five new ministries that will be developed in the territory, following the announcement of five new permanent secretaries last week.

The new secretaries, four of whom are women, will each lead the development of a new Ministry.

Clara Gardiner will develop the Ministry of Border Control and Labour; Susan Malcolm will lead the development of the Ministry of Environment and Home Affairs; Anya Swann Williams will develop the Ministry of Finance and Economics; Wesley Clerveaux will develop the Ministry of Government Support Services and Judith Campbell will lead the Ministry of Health and Education.

The finance, trade and tourism teams will be merged into the Ministry for Finance and Economics, along with several other consolidations.

The merger of the Health and Education Department creates the largest department in the government, responsible for around 50 percent of all government spending.
