St Lucia Looks at Its Social Environment

By the Caribbean Journal staff

St Lucia urgently needs to pave a new direction for social advancement, according to Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony, who took office in November after his St Lucia Labour Party won the country’s national election.

Anthony spent Friday looking at the issues facing St Lucia’s social partners and their various organizations, holding talks with the St Lucia Teacher’s Union, the St Lucia Nurses Association, the National Trade Workers Union and the Civil Service Association.

“I hope after all these discussions, then we can establish a framework to consolidate so that we can begin to look to the future,” he said.

Anthony has held talks with the St Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, and will meet next week with the National Council on Public Transport.
