Longtime CONCACAF Deputy General Secretary Ted Howard has been installed as the organization’s acting general secretary, the organization announced today.

CONCACAF is the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football, the governing body for association football in the region including the Caribbean.

Howard replaces Chuck Blazer, whose resignation became effective Saturday.

Howard was the executive director of the old North American Soccer League from 1971 to 1984.

Blazer resigned in the wake of a high-profile bribery scandal involving a host of Caribbean football officials.
