Grenadian Tourism Minister: Country is “Extremely Safe” Destination

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Following the continued controversy over the death of Canadian tourist and Grenadian native Oscar Bartholomew on Boxing day, the country’s Tourism Minister, Peter David, said Grenada remained an “extremely safe” destination.

He was speaking in response to questions over the death of Bartholomew, which has now led to manslaughter charges for five members of the Royal Grenada Police Force.

“This is a tragedy on all counts, especially for the Bartholomew family,” David said. “But from the perspective of visitor safety, and in comparison to other tourist-dependent nations of the world, Grenada still is — and will continue to be — an extremely safe destination for travelers from around the world.”
