The industrial strike at Grenada Breweries Limited has ended, following the intervention by Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, the government said.

Thomas held an hour-long meeting Wednesday with representatives of the Technical and Allied Workers Union, before engaging senior officials of the brewery.

“I am pleased that good sense has prevailed and that this situation has come to an end,” Thomas said. “I took the decision, after negotiations had broken down, to engage both sides to resolve this matter and I am pleased that an agreement has been reached.”

The Prime Minister said an “expansion of industrial action” was not in anyone’s interest, especially in the holiday season.

The controversy over the industrial strike included the arrest by police of Sen. Chester Humphrey, leader of the Technical and Allied Workers Union.
