Manufacturing Rebounds in St Kitts

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Manufacturing is on the rebound in St Kitts and Nevis, according to Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas.

After a 19.6 percent decline in 2009, the sector grew by 2.2 percent last year.

“This is attributed to an increase in the export of electronic components,” said Douglas, who is also Minister of Finance.

The Prime Minister said that based on increases in production in the first six months of 2010, the sector is projected to record a 6 percent increase for this year.

The country has focused exports on the US market, from products like dimmer switches and fan speed controls to Brinley flavoured rum products.
