Trinidad Signs $130M IDB Loans

Trinidad has signed two loan agreements with the Inter-American Development Bank for a total of $130 million.

The loans comprise $80 million in climate change support and $50 million aimed at strengthening the financial sector.

The loans are for a 20-year term, with a four-year grace period.

The climate change portion of the programme intends to incorporate considerations of climate change into national policy, along with strengthening and modernizing the regulatory, institutional and policy framework in the country in these area.

Acting Finance Minister Vasant Bharath and IDB representative Iwan Sewberath Misser signed the agreements.
