Antigua is readying a large-scale road project for 2012, according to the recently-released national budget.

The programme will focus on a number of main roads and arteries leading into St John’s, along with village access roads.

The government will spend approximately $20 million on the project, which is aimed at improving the safety, strength and condition of the road network.

The government said 100 people would get short-term job-specific training for the project as part of a wider strategic job plan.

It follows the ongoing infrastructure project that is reshaping the road network in the Bahamas’ New Providence.
