Guyana’s Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO) continues to be a major part of the agriculture sector and the country as a whole, according to Guyanese Agriculture Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy.

“No one can deny the fact that GUYSUCO had challenging years,” he said. “We will be looking to ensure that the corporation becomes an example of model enterprise not only for Guyana and the Caribbean but other countries in the ACP states.”

Ramsammy said sugar was poised for greater development and was well on its way to regaining its “former glory” as the Caribbean’s bread basket.
