Jamaica will hold national elections Dec. 29, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced Sunday night at a rally for his ruling Jamaica Labour Party in Mandeville.

“Now is decision time,” he said. “I have a feeling that our future is going to be a great future. I have a feeling that tonight is gonna be a good night.”

“We call elections when we are ready,” he said. “And we are ready.”

He said Jamaica Labour Party candidates would nominate on Dec. 12.

Holness said that he had waited until a proper enumeration of voters had been produced. He was informed by the director of elections that the new list has now been published.

Holness is the youngest-serving prime minister in the history of Jamaica.
