St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas has appointed to Her Majesty’s Privy Council, according to Paul Brummell, British High Commissioner to St Kitts and Nevis.

“I would like to take this opportunity to warmly congratulate Prime Minister Dr Douglas on his appointment by Her Majesty to the Queen to Her Majesty’s Privy Council,” Brummell said in remarks read on his behalf by Ambassador Roslyn Hazelle.

With the appointment, Douglas’ receives the prefix “Rt. Hon.”

The Privy Council is a formal body of advisers in the United Kingdom, and not to be confused with the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which is the highest appellate court for many Caribbean countries, including the federation.

As of a count in August 2008, there were 538 members of the council.

Douglas also received congratulations from British Prime Minister David Cameron.
