CARICOM Secretary General Irwin LaRocque called on the Caribbean’s youth to help move the integration effort forward, speaking to students at the University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus.

“It is your views, your vision, your ideas coming out of this university that can lead the charge in creating the Community for All that we seek,” he said. “The level of integration might not be happening as quickly as we like, but it is happening.”

LaRocque told students that the region needed to “shape integration to suit our own needs.”

Professor Eudine Barriteau, deputy principal of the campus, welcomed LaRocque to Cave Hill and stressed UWI’s importance to the regional movement, urging students to carry on the work of integration.
