A 20-member delegation from China’s National People’s Congress is visiting Antigua today for a series of talks with government officials.

The Chinese delegation will hold meetings with Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer today to discuss potential areas of closer cooperation between the two states.

The Chinese group includes officials from the country’s Standing Committee and a member of the NPC’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, among others.

The NPC is China’s highest state body and only legislative house. With 2,987 members, it is the largest parliament in the world.

The Chinese delegation will leave the country tomorrow night after touring Nelson’s Dockyard, Shirley Heights and the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.

The visit follows a similar mission by Chinese officials to Barbados.
