Grenada, Germany Sign Climate Deal

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Grenadian Environment Minister Joseph Gilbert signed a $6.89 million “concept agreement” for projects in climate change with the German government.

The aims of the new programme are to deliver funds to local communities in Grenada to help fight climate change’s adverse effects, like droughts and sea level rise.

Michael Scholze signed on behalf of the German government’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

The programme has four proposed components, including a strategic national approach to integrating climate change resilience, climate-resilient water management, local help for fighting climate change and knowledge management and increased capacity to climate finance.
