Barbados, Copa Airlines Meet in Panama

Following news that Barbados and Panama were “on the verge” of an airlift agreement, Barbados Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy held “extensive” talks with COPA Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron this week in Panama.

After emerging from the talks, Sealy said only that “we had a very encouraging meeting with the CEO of COPA Airlines.”

Sealy said that tapping markets like Panama was essential for the future of Barbadian tourism.

“The traditional tourism markets alone cannot do it,” he said. “It would be a gross dereliction of my responsibility for the Tourism Portfolio if I simply was to plan the next 50 years of Barbados’ tourism industry on arrivals from only the UK, Canada and the US.”
