St Kitts, Taiwan Sign Radio Agreement

By the Caribbean Journal staff

St Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Sam Condor has signed a memorandum of understanding between Radio Taiwan International and ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation, while in Taipei this week.

Radio Taiwan, which is one of the world’s longest-serving radio stations, is an online station broadcasted in 13 languages.

The agreement allows for exchanges of news, information and cultural programmes agreed upon by the two countries. Condor was accompanied in by the federation’s Resident Ambassador in Taiwan, Jasmine Huggins.

The deal allows for cooperation with St Kitts and Nevis’ national radio station, ZIZ.

“The net effect of this medium would be the exposure of both countries to a wider listening audience than was ever envisaged,” Condor said. “[It] affords a glorious opportunity for the disseminating of positive and relevant information to an audience never before captured.”

RTI Chairman Chang Rung Gong said he was excited about the possibilities now existing for collaboration between the countries.
