Can Trinidad Build a Tourism Economy?

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Trinidad and Tobago has the potential to be a sustainable tourism economy that can stand side by side with its energy economy, High Commissioner to the UK Gavin Nicholas said at his office in London’s Belgrave Square.

The country is not as visible to prospective tourists as other destinations are in the United Kingdom, however.

Nicholas was meeting with Tourism Development Company representatives for the United Kingdom Natalie Duggan and Victoria Taylor.

Nicholas informed the two representatives that he viewed them as partners with the High Commission in carrying out the mandate of the government.

Nicholas spoke of several cultural and trade projects on the way, including a London-based Trinidad and Tobago Village, and the launch of a Trinidad-style carnival in Cardiff, Wales.
