Trinidad Emergency Arrests Top 3,200

A total of 3,290 people were arrested in Trinidad from the Aug. 23 to Sep. 28 during the country’s ongoing State of Emergency, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Force.

A plurality of arrests have been either drug or gang related, for a total of 1,068 people, along with 675 jailed for other offences.

According to the data, 174 people have been arrested for allegedly breaking part of the country’s ongoing curfew.

The data also show 838 people arrested on outstanding warrants in the country.

Since the declaration, 12,330 rounds of ammunition, along with 28 magazines, have been seized, and 112 firearms have been seized.

There have been 56 people arrested as part of homicide investigations.
