After 18 years of negotiations, the Bahamas and Cuba have officially signed an agreement for maritime delimitations between the two countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Brent Symonette and Cuban Ambassador Jose Luis Ponce Caraballo signed the agreement yesterday in Nassau.

The Bahamian Cabinet approved the agreement last Thursday.

The issue of maritime sea borders between the countries has seen increased pressure as both countries have made oil discoveries in their offshore areas.
