Officials from Venezuela and Guyana are meeting Friday to discuss the decision by Guyana to make a claim on a large portion of continental shelf off its waters in the Caribbean sea. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro will meet with his Guyanese counterpart Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett. Guyana’s offshore waters have drawn a great deal of interest of late, including from US oil giant Anadarko. [AP]
