Developer Morad Fareed announced a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to co-develop the first-ever professional football stadium in Haiti, a $5 million project done in partnership with Haiti sports icon Boby Duval.
“Bringing professional soccer to Haiti has been Boby’s dream for years,” Fareed said. “We are honoured to partner with his foundation to make that dream a reality.”
The project will include a 12,000-square-foot stadium, a youth soccer academy, an elementary and middle school and a series of infrastructure projects.
Duval has acquired the land to build the stadium in Cite Soleil.
“I have seen a number of incredible projects over the years, and Morad and Boby’s commitment to build the first professional soccer stadium in one of the most dangerous cities in the world is one of the most exciting projects that I have seen presented at CGI,” said Terry McAulliffe, an American politician who sits on the advisory board of Morad’s Delos Living.
