New Commissioner of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force CG Walwyn is extending an olive branch to the gangs, along with a chance to leave.

“I am not now, nor ever will be, tolerant of the actions of the criminal element in our Federation,” he said. “I want them to know that while we are willing to help them, and have been dialoguing with them for the last two weeks, the wrath of the law will fall on them, if they are linked to the perpetration of any violent crime in this Federation.”

Walwyn said he was still holding out the olive branch to any members who were willing to leave the gangs.

Walwyn, who assumed command of the police force at the beginning of this month, said some members have reached out to him and sent messages.

“I want to help you leave the gangs, but I cannot be tolerant of your actions,” he said. “I do not want any more mothers crying; please let us keep it that way.”

Walwyn has been in law enforcement for more than 25 years, including stints in Texas and Florida.
