By the Caribbean Journal staff

St Kitts and Nevis Works Minister Dr Asim Martin has concluded a three-person delegation in Israel for high-level talks.

Dr Martin participated in talks with President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

The minister said his team, which was brought to Israel through a group called Project Interchange, visited agricultural and livestock farms in northern Israel and held discussions with experts with an eye toward expanding relations between the two states.

He also discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and said he was confident that the upcoming vote at the UN would “be able to balance the aspirations of the Palestinian people for self-determination with Israel’s right to exist in peace with security.”

Martin also traveled to Ramallah in the West Bank where he engaged in talks with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

Martin was joined on the visit by High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Kevin Isaac and Homeland Security Advisor Dr Norgen Wilson.
