After 100 Days, a Struggle for Martelly

As University of Miami School of Law Professor and former Aristide advisor Irwin Stotzky wrote in the Caribbean Journal today, the first 100 days of Michel Martelly’s presidency have been a struggle, with Haitian lawmakers twice rejecting choices by Martelly for prime minister. Without a prime minister, Haiti cannot legally govern. “I am trying to give them hope,” said Guerda Anier, who lives in one of Haiti’s tent cities. “But how am I supposed to give them hope when I don’t have any? Today, there is more discouragement than hope.” [Miami Herald]
