CARICOM and the leaders from the Central American Integration System are meeting this week in El Salvador, seeking to strengthen the relationship between the two integration movements, in the first visit outside CARICOM for new Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque.

LaRocque met his colleague, Juan Daniel Aleman Gurdian, the Secretary-General of SICA, the Central American Integration Movement, at its office in San Salvador.

The two groups are meeting Friday for the third Meeting of the Heads of State and Government and SICA.

The two sides have exchanged visits by technical officers of the Secretariats, and LaRocque announced an invitation to Gurdian to visit CARICOM’s headquarters in Georgetown.

There are seven full members in SICA, including Belize, which is also a member of CARICOM.
