Organization of American States Secretary-General Jose Miguel Insuiza has notched his serious concern for Haiti’s continuing difficulty to approve a new prime minister and form a new government.

Haitian lawmakers have twice rejected appointments for the post made by new President Michel Martelly.

“Mindful of the urgency to continue with the reconstruction efforts and the crucial importance of consolidating and strengthening democracy in this OAS founding member state, a consensus needs to e found for the approval of a prime minister,” he said.

Insuiza called on the Haitian political leadership to re-double their efforts in finding a consensus and forming a new government. Haiti has been without a government since Martelly’s inauguration on May 14.
