Barbadian Foreign Minister Sen. Maxine McClean met yesterday with the United States’ new Charge d’Affaires, Christopher Sandrolini. The two officials expressed concerns over the narcotics trade in the region and discussed ways both countries could work together to reduce the drug problem and encourage Caribbean youth to look to other “wholesome” activities. McClean and Sandrolini also spoke of further cooperation in areas including security, health, climate change and food security. On the climate change, Barbados announced earlier this summer the establishment of a new unit in hits Ministry of Health aimed at dealing with climate change issues.
