Boston Teams Fight Haiti Cholera

A team from Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital is joining the charge to fight the Haitian cholera outbreak that has ravaged the earthquake-torn country. Last week, six medical professionals, including one doctor, headed to the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Descheappeles to begin 10-hour days at the hospital. That follows the significant work performed by fellow Boston health care organization Partners in Health, which said nearly 15,000 patients came for cholera treatment at its clinics in June, with four times that number in April. Last week, the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund announced it would be granting $1.8 million to Partners in Health, along with its sister organization, Zanmi Lasante, to fund a program focusing on building Haiti’s healthcare infrastructure.
