Earthquake aid has helped one particularly poor sector of Haiti — its prisons. A year and a half after the quake that devastated the nation, a group of countries including the U.S. and U.K., along with the United Nations, have begun initiatives to improve conditions in the country’s prisons. Almost 70 percent of Haitian prisoners have never been charged, according to a report last year from the U.S. Department of State. [AP via Forbes]
