Haiti’s Cholera Up, Aid Falling

The cholera problem on the island of Hispaniola has only been getting worse since being introduced to Haiti, reportedly by Nepalese UN workers, in October. But the surge in cholera has not been met with corresponding aid, as what was an outpouring of international support has dwindled. “We have a smaller pool of people responding and similar caseloads to what we were seeing the later part of the year,” said Cate Oswald of Partners in Health, a medical aid group. “So we’re working double-and triple-time with very limited resources.” [NPR]
