Jamaica has signed a biomedical agreement with the Cuban government as part of an initiative to improve the equipment at the country’s health facilities.
The plan will see Cuban experts coming to Jamaica to work with local specialists to repair equipment that has been sitting unused in health facilities.
The Jamaican government also announced yesterday that the government of Spain has donated medical equipment and furniture to the Spanish Town Hospital in St Catherine.
The donation will go toward the hospital’s King o f Spain Wing, which opened in 2009. “The people of Jamaica truly appreciate this gesture and stand to benefit tremendously from this donation,” said Health Minister Rudyard Spencer.
