Israel Looks to Help Jamaica on Energy

Israeli Ambassador to Jamaica Moshe Sermoneta said Israel is interested in helping Jamaica solve its energy problems, along with offering knowledge on tourism and agriculture. “Israel is a country that lacks natural resources,” he said. “We don’t have oil, we don’t have a lot of gas … we have been forced to find alternative sources of energy, and solar is one of them.” According to Sermoneta, Israel has made several developments in sustainable energy, including in the field of solar water heating, and would be willing to help Jamaica. “If the government of Jamaica is looking for solutions for energy conservation and alternative energy in order to try and become a little bit [less] dependent on oil, we are there to help.” [Jamaica Gleaner]
