With a mostly-mountainous terrain that makes farming difficult, Haiti, like many developing countries, is forced to import its food — but with growing population and limited water resources, Haiti is struggling to feed itself. That could change thanks to a so-called “blue revolution,” or an increase in fish farming. With 1,100 miles of coastline, free-range fish farming could help a problematic agricultural economy, according to Phil Cruver. Culver’s KZO Education, a Florida-based marine aquaculture organization, is bringing over a group of Haitians this fall to Florida to learn about sustainable fish farming. [Christian Science Monitor]
