CARICOM Heads of Government met with Andris Piebalgs, European Union Commissioner for Development, in special session in Basseterre this weekend to discuss political and cooperation issues. The meeting was part of a new phase in Caribbean-EU relations, led by the CARIFORUM/EU Economic Partnership Agreement which is currently being implemented. The groups also discussed disbursement of budgetary support to Jamaica and a 7.9 million-Euro programme to support the Climate Change Agenda of the Caribbean.
