The beginning of the first phase of Grenada’s Greater Greenville Project is part of a new development push by the government that includes a series of infrastructure projects. Prime Minister Tillman Thomas joined Works Minsiter Joseph Gilbert Friday at a sod-turning ceremony to mark commencement of work on the Greenville Market Development Project. The project follows an expansion of the Road Maintenance Program, which has dispersed 380 crews and 126 supervisors throughout Grenada, Gilbert said, at a cost of $2.9 million. The sod-turning was not the first for the project — it had been set to commence in 2008 but was subjected to a series of delays in the next three years.
