Digitizing the Law in Barbados

The Barbados Attorney General’s office is beginning an initiative to implement so-called Legislative Information Management Systems that will digitize Barbadian laws. “The project will introduce technological advances which will enable us to draft legislation more efficiently and also to update and consolidate the laws more quickly,” said Deputy Chief Parliamentary Counsel Cynthia Herbert. Under the new initiative, laws will be published to the internet, and will “fully computerise the office and in doing so modernise and bring a higher level of efficiency and productivity to all aspects of the preparation and production of legislation,” she said.
