Haiti’s parliament yesterday rejected President Michel Martelly’s choice for prime minister, Daniel Rouzier, more than six months since Haitians first went to the polls to choose a successor to president Rene Preval. Former prime minister Jean-Max Bellerive resigned in May. Martelly nominated Rouzier on May 20, but in a 42-19 vote the Assembly of Deputies voted against his nomination. Rouzier, who is a millionaire businessman, is an honorary consul to Jamaica. [CNN]
