New Jamaica-Barbados Controversy

Following the controversial treatment of a Jamaican national at Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados, Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding questioned the alleged detention of a Caribbean Airlines plane in Barbados. “What I am told took place two days ago when a Caribbean Airlines plane was held up,” he said. “I don’t want to use the word detained, and the suspicion is that it is an aggressive action and I hope it is not, because that is not the way we in CARICOM must resolve CARICOM issues.” Caribbean Airlines completed its merger with Air Jamaica last month. Golding said pressure was increasing on new Barbadian carrier REDjet to be allowed to fly into Jamaica. [Jamaica Observer]
