The death toll from last year’s Haiti earthquake was between 46,000 and 85,000, a number that is far smaller than the official figure of 316,000, according to a report commissioned by the U.S. government. The report, which was prepared for the U.S. Agency for International Development, still contains some inconsistencies, however, and will not be released publicly yet. A copy of the report was obtained by the Associated Press. [AP via Miami Herald]
