Trinidad’s Ruling People’s Partnership Marks One Year in Office

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar

Trinidad’s ruling People’s Partnership marked one year in office, after winning 29 seats compared to the People’s National Movement’s 12 seats a year ago. The popularity of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, however, has fallen in polls, with a 14 percent drop, according to Market Facts and Opinion. The government went through controversy earlier this month when Cabinet Minister Mary King was removed from office over allegations concerning the award of a government contract. [Trinidad Express]
