Bahamas, Cuba Agree on Sea Border

Source: Nasa Visible Earth

The Bahamas and Cuba have reached an agreement in principle regarding their mutual maritime border, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Brent Symonette. Setting the border was important due to the new importance of oil drilling in the Caribbean, although the Bahamian government has not yet said whether it will allow drilling near the Cay Sal Bank towards Inagua, which is near the newly-established border. The Bahamian Cabinet will now have to sign off on the coordinates of the border. [The Nassau Guardian]
