Barbados PM Stuart Discusses Impact of Osama Bin Laden’s Death

The Barbadian government has responded to the death of Al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden with caution, following the country’s historical foreign policy of “friends of all, satellites of none.” Prime Minister Freundel Stuart said he hoped the situation would resolve itself quickly, and that the global political fallout would not be too great. “Barbados does not get itself involved in disputes of this kind,” he said. “We are a tourist economy and if a terrorist element anywhere in the world feels offended by something that another country had done and the residents of that country come to Barbados, we have to face the reality to take all the necessary precautions.” [Nation News]
