Sir Charles Michael Dennis Byron will replace the outgoing Michael de la Bastide as the president of the Caribbean Court of Justice, the CARICOM heads of government announced. Byron is currently president of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and the date of his assumption of office is not yet known. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, and has previously served as a high court judge, a justice of appeal and Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
