United’s Newest Nonstop Caribbean Flight

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 14, 2016

It’s getting easier to get to one of the Caribbean’s hidden gems.

United Airlines has officially launched a second weekly flight between Newark and the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire.

The newest United nonstop Caribbean flight for the summer season launched this past weekend, with flights on Sundays between Newark and the Southern Caribbean’s diving capital.

The new flight expands upon United’s existing weekly Saturday service out of Newark to Bonaire.

As arrivals to the region rise, more and more carriers are ramping up their networks to the Caribbean.

“We are gratified for our long-time partnership with United Airlines, and their support adding a second non-stop flight from Newark Liberty International Airport,” commented Maurice Adriaens, Director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “The second flight provides us with the opportunity to grow the New Jersey/New York market. We are excited to keep developing our partnership with United Airlines.”

While JetBlue has been leading that growth, a number of legacy carriers like American Airlines and United Airlines have been adding to their route networks as well.

Indeed, just this year, United has added new flights from Houston to St Thomas, from Chicago to St Lucia and fro Newark to St Lucia.

It’s also added new service from Washington and Chicago to Grand Cayman.

The new flight is being operated on Boeing 737 aircraft.
