Dominica’s relief efforts from Tropical Storm Erika are getting a big boost from the Caribbean’s hotel sector.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association have led a fundraising drive called “Caribbean Hotels United for Dominica,” aimed at providing support for the island in the wake of the devastating storm.

The drive was organized by CHTA Acting President Karolin Troubetzkoy and featured 57 Caribbean vacation packages on Charity Buzz, an online charity auction platform.

The auction raised more than $51,000, which will be distributed in Dominica through the DHTA.

“It was both humbling and heart-warming to see how quickly and enthusiastically Caribbean hoteliers responded to this assistance campaign further reiterating we are, in-fact, One Caribbean, and can rely on each other in times of need,” Troubetzkoy said.
