Could Six Senses one day open a resort in Haiti?
The company recently held a working visit to Haiti led by Chairman Wolf Hengst, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism.
The trip followed a meeting in New York last month that included Hengst, Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin, Haiti Finance and Economy Minister Marie Carmelle Jean Marie and a consultant from investment bank Lazard.
Six Senses is one of the world’s leading spa and resort companies.
“Six Senses is interested in investing in Ile a Vache,” the Ministry said.
It currently has one property in the Caribbean — a Six Senses spa in Punta Cana in the neighbouring Dominican Republic at the Puntacana Resort & Club.
According to Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism, a potential Six Senses property could form part of the government’s plans for the island of Ile a Vache.
