Jamaica Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has appointed Derrick Kellier as the country’s new Minister of Agriculture, Labour and Social Security.
Kellier succeeds former Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke, who passed away last month.
The position includes the portfolio for agriculture and fisheries in addition to his existing responsibility for labour and social security.
The government said Kellier would be assisted by Luther Buchanan, who has been assigned as Minister of State within the same Ministry.
Buchanan had been holding responsibility for the portfolio of rural development.
