Puerto Rico will soon play host to the island’s annual tourism convention.

The Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association will gather from Sept. 8 to Sept. 10 at the Condado Plaza Hilton hotel under the theme “Window of Opportunities.”

The event will include the final speech by Ismael Vega as the PRHTA’s president, and the association’s newly-elected president will be announced.

According to Clarisa Jimenez, president and CEO of the PRHTA, the association is focusing on a campaign of support and education for members.

“With the mission to continue promoting education, the PRHTA has designed a scholastic program consisting of various workshops and seminars to define the skills and knowledge of the convention attendees in their different work areas,” she said. “Also, the trade show will offer important fraternization events that will serve as a vehicle to provide information of vital importance related to the current situation of the island’s tourism industry.”

The PRHTA will also host chef, casino and mixology competitions, among others.

The PRHTA has 560 corporate members across the island’s hotel, restaurant, airline and business sectors.
