Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton will be taking part in the upcoming Top Gear Festival in Barbados.

Hamilton will appear on the track behind the wheel of his Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 car during the festival, which will take place on May 17 and 18.

It will be the Caribbean debut for the car at the Busy Park Circuit.

“By bringing the F1 W04 to Barbados, we’re bringing the thrill of Formula One to the festival. Having been driven by Lewis and his team mate Nico Rosberg during last year’s season, it achieved three race wins, nine podium appearances and eight pole positions,” said Petra Roach, vice president of the Barbados Tourism Authority, UK. “Riding on this wave of success, we’re excited to bring the car to Barbados for an unmissable weekend of top racing action.”

Hamilton, a native of the United Kingdom, has Caribbean roots: his paternal grandparents came to the UK from Grenada. Hamilton at one time owned a hotel in Grenada as well.

Top Gear is the world’s most popular motoring show.
